Foot care doesn't (shouldn't) stop at the pedicure. We all know how important it is to be happy with your pedicure, but our feet need more care than that.

During summer, our lower limbs are exposed to the sun on the street, whether we are on holiday or in the city. Therefore, our toenails but also the soles of our feet, need to be groomed and look impeccable, even if we can't find an appointment available at our favorite nail bar. But how easy is it to take care of your feet yourself? With a foot scrub, of course!

Foot scrubs are essential for maintaining healthy and happy feet, and here is why:

Exfoliation: Foot scrubs help remove dead skin cells, preventing buildup and roughness that can lead to cracks and calluses.

Improved circulation: The massaging action of a foot scrub stimulates blood flow, reducing swelling and discomfort, especially when we are on heels for a long period of time.

Reduced odor: By eliminating bacteria and sweat, foot scrubs can help prevent unpleasant foot odor, which is more common during summertime.

Soft, smooth skin: Regular scrubbing leaves your feet feeling soft and looking healthy.

Prevention of issues: Dealing with dry, rough skin early can help prevent more serious foot problems, such as athlete's foot or fungal infections.

Of course, there are many ways to pamper your skin on this part of your body, such as masks and scrubs you can find on the market, but in this article, we'll focus on a more inexpensive option.

How about making a DIY scrub that will remove dry skin (i.e., dead cells) from your foot skin without dehydrating it? A few ingredients from your kitchen and 2 minutes of your time are all you need to prepare it in no time.

For your homemade foot scrub, you will need:

1/2 cup of granulated sugar or Epsom salts.

1/4 cup olive oil.

1/8 cup honey.

3-5 drops of lavender essential oil.

The process shouldn't take you more than a minute.

Granulated sugar or Epsom salts can work great as exfoliating ingredients. In fact, when mixed with other moisturizing ingredients like olive oil and honey, they offer even more benefits to the skin.

In a clean bowl, mix all of the above ingredients very well until they are combined. The scrub is ready to use!

Before using this moisturizing scrub, it's a good idea to soak your feet in lukewarm water for up to 10 minutes to soften them.

Immediately afterward, of course, don't forget to apply a moisturizing cream, which will lock the moisture into the skin of your feet, leaving them even softer.

In general, it's best to avoid harsh ingredients in exfoliating products, which can irritate the skin in combination with the friction caused by rubbing the product.
